Nigeria has received the first set of morbid power transformers in the €63 million deal with Siemens aimed to stablise power supply across the country.
This was disclosed by Abubakar Aliyu, the minister of Power, while speaking at the 5th National Council on Power (NACOP) in Abuja.
Aliyu said under the Presidential Power Initiative an order was placed for the purchase of 10 morbid power transformers and 10 mobile substations.
The minister further said government-to-government partnership between Nigeria and Germany, resulted in a loan agreement which provided on concessionary terms through Siemens Company to rehabilitate the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) and the value chain in the industry.
He stated that in addition to the Vision 30:30:30, which seeks to generate 30,000MW of power by the year 2030 with renewable energy making up 30% of the energy mix, the Federal government has also developed the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Policy.
