Mastercard has announced the appointment of Folasade Femi-Lawal as its new country manager and area business head for West Africa. 

As country manager for West Africa, Folasade Femi-Lawal will lead the execution of Mastercard’s strategy and vision for the region, with a focus on driving growth and innovation through the development and implementation of strategic plans. 

The firm highlighted that its new country manager brings over 25 years of experience across various industries to her new role. Her background includes roles in financial services, management consulting, telecommunications, and business advisory services.

Mark Elliott, division president for sub-Saharan Africa at Mastercard, said “We warmly welcome Folasade to the Mastercard family. With extensive experience in the digital payments ecosystem, she brings valuable assets to our West Africa operations. 

Her arrival comes at a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s shift toward a cashless society through digital innovation. Folasade will collaborate closely with public and private sector partners to advance this transformation.”

Commenting on the appointment, Femi-Lawal expressed her excitement at the opportunity to serve as Country Manager for West Africa at Mastercard. She also emphasised her commitment to driving digital transformation and supporting the Nigerian government’s vision for a robust, inclusive, and secure digital economy.
