President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn-in six newly appointed federal permanent secretaries barely one month after approving their appointments in the federal civil service following the recently conducted selection process.
The swearing-in ceremony took place shortly before the commencement of the week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja.
The appointees charged with coordinating the activities of the directorates of the federal ministries include,Adam Mahmud Kambari from Borno State; Esuabana Nko Asanye from Cross River State; Lamuwa Adamu Ibrahim from Gombe State; Yakubu Adam Kofar-Mata from Kano State; Oloruntola Olufemi Micheal from Ogun State;and Richard Pheelangwah from Taraba State.
Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity,while reading the citation of the new officers, said the event marked the culmination of a week-long prequalification exercise for directors by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
“Mr President, six persons have fulfilled the conditions as permanent secretaries after a selection exercise recently conducted for directors.
“This exercise involved competency tests and interactions with a wide range of stakeholders,” Adesina said.
Government officials in attendance at the commencement of the meeting were Boss Mustapha, secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); Folasade Yemi-Esan,head of the federal civil service; and Babagana Monguno,national security adviser; and Ibrahim Gambari, the president’s chief of staff.
Also in attendance are Zainab Ahmed,the minister of finance, budget, and national planning;Abubakar Malami, attorney-general and minister of justice; Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture; and Mohammed Musa Bello, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Others are Niyi Adebayo, minister of industry, trade and investment; Ali Pantami, minister of communication and digital economy; Chris Ngige,minister of labour and employment; and Abubakar Aliyu, minister of power..
FolasadeYemi-Esan,while addressing state house correspondents, charged the new permanent secretaries to give their best in the discharge of their duties.
