The Lagos State government is actively working on a plan to digitize all land documents  in a bid to foster ease of doing business across the state.

Olajide Babatunde, the special adviser to the Lagos State government  on E-GIS and Planning Matters, disclosed this  during a panel discussion tagged “Deploying Technology for Transparency and Growth of the Lagos Real Estate Market,”  at the just concluded Third Lagos Real Estate Market Place Conference and Exhibitions held at Victoria Island, Lagos.

Lagos State set to digitalise processing of land documentsAccording to Babajide, the implementation of the digitisation initiative will ensure that the Lands Bureau plays an effective role in sorting, merging, scanning, indexing and digitising the files used in processing title documents in the state.

“When complete, interested persons in property acquisition or real estate transactions can access information on government portals relating to properties and land in Lagos State from anywhere in the world,” he said.

The special adviser also assured the public that all the pieces were in place for a seamless transfer to the digital platform, emphasising that preparations were currently in their final stages.

According to him, creating an efficient and sustainable platform for local and foreign investors to actively participate in the real estate sector requires openness in transactions.

Also speaking at the event, Olabode Agoro, Lagos State permanent secretary for the Lands Bureau, explained that the goal of the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority’s (LASRERA) registration of individuals and organisations is to ensure that only certified and trained professionals are allowed to work in the state’s real estate sector.

He also added that the digitization system will collect precise data for efficiency. He added that E-GIS is an advanced database system that distributes information across a network of systems.
