FG-Siemens power deal to gulp $2.3bn out of $6.15bn energy fund – Minister

The federal government is to spend the sum of $2.3 billion on its  power deal with Siemens, a german electrical  firm, for the improvement of electricity in the country.

Sale Mamman, minister of power, who stated this said another $1.6bn was for the transmission rehabilitation and expansion Programme.

The misterrecently marked his one year anniversary in office.

A statement issued by Aaron , Saleh’s special assistant on media, quoted the minister as saying that the federal government had secured a total of $6.15 billion for the power sector which would be used for critical projects.

The minister said the money was being put to use to improve the electricity of Nigerians.

The statement further said $1.7bn was for electricity distribution, $550m for the Nigerian Electricity Project, which is a rural electrification project being funded by the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
