FAAN suspends first national aviation conference

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended the national aviation conference slated for April 4, 2020 in Abuja.

The authority in a statement, Tuesday said the decision to suspend its maiden national conference that was expected to bring together investors and regulators, was  due to the need to adhere to safety precautions in the face of the Coronavirus now spreading across nations globally.

“FAAN hereby notifies stakeholders and the general public that the National Aviation Conference earlier scheduled for 1st to 4th April 2020, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja has been suspended. This is due to the need to adhere to safety precautions in the face of the Corona virus presently spreading across nations globally.

“The World Health Organisation recently declared COVID 19 a global pandemic and advised that as much as possible, individuals and organisations should avoid clustered gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus. A new date for the conference will be announced as soon as possible. The authority regrets any inconvenience this postponement might have caused you,” FAAN stated.

Themed, “Advancing the Frontiers of Possibilities for Safe, Secure and Profitable Air Transport,’ the conference was aimed at providing a veritable platform for brainstorming and sharing knowledge and ideas on contemporary developments in the global aviation industry, the authority had said when it announced recently that it was ready to hold the conference.
